Urology / Genitourinary Surgery

The Urology department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and disorders of the male and female urinary tract system and reproductive organs. To this end, it provides an extensive range of diagnostic, therapeutic and restorative techniques.

The Urologist will consult on a range of disorders and will collaborate with other specialists (e.g. Paediatrician, Gynaecologist, Nephrologists) when necessary to ensure the best possible clinical outcome for the patient.Common areas/disorders seen by Urologists include; paediatric urology, urologic oncology (cancer) i.e. prostatic, male Infertility, Calculi (urinary tract stones), female urology (urinary incontinence and pelvic outlet relaxation disorders) and neurourology (voiding disorders, urodynamic evaluation and erectile dysfunction or impotence).

The department offers a wide array of diagnostic and treatment procedures including; Antegrade pyelogram, CT scan of the kidney, cytoscopy, genital and pelvic reconstruction, intravenous pyelogram, lithotripsy, nephrectomy (full and partial), percutaneous nephrolithonomy (PCNL), prostate biopsy, radical nephrectomy/orchiectomy/prostectomy, retrograde cystography/pyelogram, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, sperm retrieval, transuretheral resection of the prostate/bladder, ultrasound (kidney/prostate/rectal), ureteroscopy, urine flow test, vasectomy and reversal.
