Pathology / General Internal Medicine
The department of internal medicine provides cross-specialty care for patients with a wide spectrum of clinical conditions.
Consultants in the department have had broad-based training in general internal medicine and in one or more subspecialties. The presence of clinicians with different subspecialty training in the department allows for an integrated approach to patient care.
Subspecialties of internal medicine include allergy and immunology, cardiology (heart diseases), endocrinology (hormone disorders), haematology (blood disorders), infectious diseases, gastroenterology (diseases of the gut), nephrology (kidney diseases), oncology (cancer), pulmonology (lung disorders), and rheumatology (arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders).
Patients who arrive with undefined symptoms or complaints (shortness of breath, chest pain, abdominal pain, back pain, etc.) and who need help in diagnosing their illness will be directed to one of our pathology / general internal medicine consultants who will diagnose and treat them and collaborate with other specialist consultants, when required.
There is always a pathology / general internal medicine consultant available 24 hours a day in the hospital to meet all incoming patient needs.
For enquiries or to arrange a consultation please contact the hospital.
